INCENTIVES AND AWARDS
On September 6, 2023, Utena Municipality Mayor Marijus Kaukėnas presented a thank-you note to the staff of the Utena Tourism Information Center for the interesting and memorable activities organized in the "children's country" on the occasion of the 762nd birthday of the city of Utena.
In 2022 , the award "The Most Sustainable Tourism Municipality of 2022" (3rd place) was deserved . The Ministry of Economy and Innovation of the Republic of Lithuania organized the 8th Lithuanian Tourism Forum "Let's Rethink Tourism", which honored individuals and organizations that promoted sustainable tourism in Lithuania in 2022. The Public Institution Utena Tourism Information Centre was awarded 3rd place in the award category "The Most Sustainable Tourism Municipality of 2022". In the application submitted to the competition "City of Happiness Utena Heartily", Utena was presented as an authentic place where the memory of the Nobel Peace Prize laureate, cardiologist Bernardus Lounas, who was born and raised in Utena, is given meaning through sustainable tourism.
On September 8, 2022, the Department of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture appreciated the Public Enterprise Utena Tourism Information Centre for organizing the cultural tourism event "Utena Region Mounds: From the Lithuanian Tribe to the State of Lithuania" dedicated to the celebration of the European Heritage Days "Sustainable Heritage" "for the sincere organization of the European Heritage Days, highlighting the archaeological heritage of the Utena Region" (Letter of Appreciation >>> ).
In 2021, the Public Institution Utena Tourism Information Centre was awarded the Lithuanian Association of Tourism Information Centres' gratitude "For the popularization of the innovative Utena Happiness Road, positive dissemination and active organization of excursions around Lithuania" .
In December 2021, the Public Institution Utena Tourism Information Centre participated in the campaign "Christmas Light" initiated by the Utena District Municipality in the category of the most beautifully decorated institution! The institution's photo received 473 "likes" and took 1st place.
In 2020, the cooperation of the Lake District (Utena, Molėtai, Ignalina, Zarasai, Anykščiai tourist information centres) was recognized as the initiative that most strengthens and promotes the region in Lithuania and the world . In order to bring together the best experience of the regions, innovative ideas and share discoveries, the Department of Regional Development under the Ministry of the Interior organized a competition of original ideas and initiatives on the theme "Regions: Maps of Discovery". The aim of the competition is to identify and evaluate examples of good practice, inspiring and meaningful ideas that change people's lives and their environment.
In 2017, the Utena Tourist Information Center won the "Most Sustainable Tourist Information Center" award ( more>>> ).
