Vyžuona Park – a green space in Utena

Vyžuona Park, named after the river that flows through it, is the largest and one of the most popular parks in Utena. Vibrant all year round, it invites both Utena residents and city guests to take a breather, do sports, and have a meaningful time.


Recreation and active leisure in nature

The park has created excellent conditions for diverse recreation:

  • Pedestrian and bicycle paths
    Conveniently laid trails are intended for walking and cycling in the warm season.

  • On the paths of wellness
    Consists of 10 courts adapted for different groups of athletes with outdoor exercise equipment and children's play equipment.

  • Family fun
    In 2025, the park was equipped with a modern children's playground and a cozy grill area for spending quality time with family or friends.

  • Cultural events
    The park is decorated with carefully tended greenery and an amphitheater, where various events are held during the warm season.


Romance and attractions

Vyžuona Park is distinguished not only by its nature, but also by its unique objects:

  • 7 bridges over rivers
    There are as many as seven bridges connecting the banks of the Vyžuona and Utenėlė rivers that inspire romantic walks.

  • Observation deck and the " Aukštaitija tree "
    The observation deck offers a magnificent panorama of the city, and next to it stands the unique sculpture "Aukštaitija Tree".

  • Utena Church of Divine Providence
    The red tower of the sanctuary, with its unique architecture, stands high above the treetops at the entrance to the park and attracts the attention of every visitor.

  • Utena Founding Monument
    At the entrance to the park, you will find a monumental stone marking the date of the founding of one of the oldest cities in Lithuania – Utena.


Rated quality

In 2015, the project "Renovation of Vyžuona Park and Public Spaces in the Approaches" implemented by the Utena District Municipality Administration was selected as the best project implemented in Eastern Lithuania in 2007–2013 under the measure "Development of Regional Economic Growth Centers".
