Aukštaitija Ecological Monitoring Station. The station conducts long-term ecosystem monitoring, assessing the long-distance air transport of chemicals into our environment and their impact on the forest ecosystem. If possible, employees will briefly introduce the main processes occurring in the ecosystem and their observations.
Seasonal educational programs/excursions are available in Rūgštėliškis village:
• A walk with a biologist – a walk while observing the life teeming around you, the processes taking place. What is hidden behind seemingly insignificant natural details and how closely everything is connected.
• Experiential walk – forest bathing. We invite you to immerse yourself in nature with your whole body: touch, breathe, listen to yourself and the primal natural life. An opportunity to be a natural part of nature and pay attention to things that we often do not notice.
• Microcosm beneath our feet – through a magnifying glass, we will dive into mossy coral reefs and get acquainted with a normally invisible world of miniatures.
• Wild edible plants – a walk by tasting and smelling what to put in soup, what to sprinkle as spices, and what is better not to touch.
• The pharmacy around us - getting to know the surrounding medicinal plants.
• Greens at home - participants are introduced to growing nutritious sprouts and shoots at home, and their benefits to the body. Each participant will have the opportunity to individually prepare a micro greens seedling.
• Workshops to get acquainted with old crafts. An opportunity to touch, get acquainted with and simply try old crafts: candle making, ribbon winding, spinning with a wheel and a spindle, weaving from grass, and making straw beds.
