ONE SUMMER SONG | Oratorio for choir, mixed ensemble, recorded voices and electronics

At the same time, Lithuanian artists who have created many times - composer Andrius Šiurys, poet, librettist and playwright Dainius Gintalas, and director Žilvinas Vingelis, together with the choir "Polifonija" and the creative team, are creating a poetic, musical work of performing art that responds to contemporary themes.

The core of the vocal-instrumental event, which is also part of the XLI RESURREXIT festival, was the book "A Song of a Summer" by the famous Lithuanian librettist and poet Dainius Gintalas, published in 2021, which is discussed by critics in the context of the best French surrealism, poetic prose, and stream-of-consciousness literature.

At the epicenter of the plot is a lyrical subject separated from the city, striving for an authentic relationship with his past, present, everyday life and memory. He does not condemn the past turbulent, bohemian and bourgeois life, but rethinks it from the perspective of poetic distance. Leaving this period behind and discovering other values of life, he reflects on the need for a new, different, free and responsible person for the future of the world.

The text constantly mentions Lithuanian symbols, images, cultural and social contexts, cities, authors, famous people, and Baltic gods, juxtaposed on an equal footing alongside culturally recognizable fundamental Western literary authors, ancient myths, intertexts, and contexts.
