A History Steeped in Legends and the Breath of the Manor
Lake Alausa (1071.8 ha) is the tenth largest in Lithuania. It is said that on the eastern shore, on the Maneičiai hill, the castle of Duke Alausa once stood. The great ruler loved this clear lake so much that he asked that his ashes be scattered into the waves after his death - that is how the lake got its name.
On the western side, on a long, narrow peninsula, stands the Bikuškis Manor , reminiscent of the times of the powerful Radziwill and Oginskii families, and on the southern coast, you will be warmly welcomed by the cozy town of Sudeikiai .
